When I was a kid, my father told me to differentiate between friends and acquaintances. Anyone who says he has hundreds of friends, is in fact mistaking them for acquaintances.
So choose your friends wisely and sparingly.

I do believe that there should be a certain gradation when it comes to friendships, trusting people at varying degrees, depending on how close to feel to them and how well you trust them. I think if we're indiscriminate with trust when it comes to the people who cross our paths, we might constantly find ourselves lonely.

I replied to a tweet that you wrote expressing this concept a few months ago, I believe. Naturally, it was in shorter form, because Twitter is about the beauty of short and sweet. In reply, I mentioned that I believe in the "Law of 150". Have you heard of it? Either way, if you're curious: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunbar's_number

Have a good weekend, Shirazi.
