A Reverse Bucket List
Saturday, 27 June 2026
A reverse bucket list is a list of desires, wants, or goals that you consciously detach yourself from by writing them down and crossing them off. Here's an example:
I want to buy a luxury car.
(Crossed off) I acknowledge the desire, but I'm not attached to it.
I desire a vacation home by the beach.
(Crossed off) I'm letting go of the need for a second home.
I wish to get promoted to a high-level position.
(Crossed off) I'm focusing on my current work, and the outcome is not what defines me.
I want to be followed by thousands on social media.
(Crossed off) My self-worth isn't tied to online validation.
By crossing off these desires, you're acknowledging them but releasing the attachment to their fulfillment, potentially leading to a sense of freedom and reduced stress.
